Need List Of All the Festivals In The City

I bought 2 packs of 100 blank cd 2 packs of inserts 200 pieces and 200 labels for the cd all this came up to 70 dollars. Now i dont' know if id be able to afford this each time but my goal is 5000 people to distribute my cd's to.

I need a list of all the festivals going on in the city.

i just thought of it... there's a club that i know called Nocturnal..I'm thinking i can ask about renting it for a night and throw my first concert.
1. I have to create my new cds $1000 and need a place for storage my place is too small now.
2. Hire my band or ask if they would play for free

I started an account on Cafe Press. I want to begin merchandising product. and I need to start a flicker account. I am also suppose to be making curtains for my living room. I am turning it into a music room for my future students.

Got Some Extra Cash

I think I need to get the graphics done for my CD and put it out there officially not just on itunes but cd baby and for concerts that i believe will come soon...

I had band rehearsal yesterday.. tried my feet at singing calypso it was so much fun.

I Need to Get Myself Booked

I have to go into the city and start to get my self booked in these local spots since i now have a band and I can hire a couple of pieces and sell my cd as a means of paying them.

My First Day On The Job

It was a little nerve wrecking at first. It did not dawn on me until I got on the train that there will be over a million people in the city and I just can't hand my cd out to every one... and one challenge I did come across is that not everyone was willing to take the cd... even when i said it was for free.

My son Kennedy had a good attitude about it he said, "let's just give it to them mommy if they say NO go to the next person." Pretty brave of him. Already learning that the word "NO" is not the end of the world. Well eventually we gave out a good bit of cd's not the 110 that i brought with me but we made some progress.

I did meet a couple of people where i could sit and sing to them and they were very happy to meet me. Check out the Photos.

A Lady At The Bus Stop

I was at the bus stop this morning with my son waiting for his bus and one of the parents that i had been talking to about the music class that i will be having asked me when i was starting..OMG people are waiting so today i will make sure i get those fliers done.

Last night i was putting the finishing touch on my cd's that i will be handing out in Manhattan today. The goal is every Friday I will take the kids out to the city and we will distribute cd's walk around and get something to eat.

I Cried Like A Baby

I have been organizing, cleaning, and decorating the house for my music school. I bought some plaster to cork up the holes around the sink and the bathroom where the roaches come out to have a party and while i was on my knees my baby son who is three years old pat me on my back and said "you can do it mommy." I could not believe what he had said and had to ask him to say it again and when he did i just began balling in tears and said thank you honey. It is as if he could see my heart and the passion that i have for wanting to make a life for him and his brother.

You Could Have Been Famous

My mom was by my house the other day and she said to me you could have been famous if a big record producer was to hear your voice but then you would have been out in the world." As if i had given up on my dream. And of course growing up in church doesn't really motivate you to be famous. That's what i hate about church. You are always living your life for the coming of the lord. Don't get me wrong I love Jesus, but how do you spend your time in this God forsaken place they call life. I would have liked to be famous too or at least get paid for my music. But between my mom and church growing up, I did not pursue it 100% percent because of my church values...I did not sleep with the president of the record company or sleep my way to the top. Looking back.....

Any way I have a new idea...I am going to continue to press my cd's and give it away

Some Days Are Better Than Others

I was walking to my car and my neighbor said hey how are you ok? I paused and thought about it for a moment and he said this is the first time i ever see you walk with a drag...usually your are walking with a lot of pep in your step. He's right and he noticed. This economy has not been kind to alot of us and I am constantly thinking of ways to capitalize on my talent.

I received a call today of a 14 year old boy who wants to take guitar lessons. He'll be my second customer. However, I think i charged them way too little. $150. for six weeks 30 min per session. Anyway. I had to get the house in order. The roaches have been trying to take over...Damn pest. They think their family using my plates drinking water from the sink, hanging out in the tub. Disgusting I know..but i have a surprise for them. Well I have got to go. I almost cried when my husband brought home his pay check but i had to keep my cool and know that a better day is coming.

Ever since I told the guy from Germany that my brother was going to be in Europe the same time that he wanted me to come down for the tour .. I have not heard back from him...that's strange or a blessing in disguise.

I am really going to start taking my career seriously again... I can't give up. I new idea just came to me. I am going to distribute 5000 cds to random people every Sunday and during the week. today was Mother's Day and my sons and I went to prospect park and we distributed 30 cds to unexpected people and wished them a happy mothers day. (^_^) it was so much fun.
